McAllen Public Library Kicks Off April Amnesty Month
Posted Monday Apr 03, 2017
During the month of April, McAllen Public Library will run a month-long drive to get overdue books, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays back on our shelves.
Any overdue item that is return from April 1st to April 30th, 2017 will have its fines removed from your account. Items can be returned to any of our three locations, and any item returned qualifies, no matter how long you’ve had it!
“During last year’s Amnesty Month drive, McAllen Public Library waived $9,000 in fines! More importantly, families who were kept away from the library due to late books were able to check out library materials again. Our goal for this year is to get 1,000 late items returned. Staff have something fun planned once we reach that goal,” Library Director, Kate P. Horan said.
It’s easy sometimes to lose track of due dates, and we don’t want old fines to keep you away from the library. Plus, it’ll give someone new a chance to enjoy our missing materials.
The drive applies to currently checked out items. Any items that have already been returned, but still have an associated fine on your account, will have to be paid normally.
