McAllen, TX 78504

Orchid Inclusive Playground is for children (ages 5-12) that offers wheelchair accessibility and is located by the North Parking Lot at the Main Library.

The new, inclusive playground will enhance playability in the City of McAllen, beautify the area, and offer more spaces for children and families to enjoy the outdoors.

The wheelchair-accessible playground, which was assembled with the generous help of volunteers from Keep McAllen Beautiful, the National Hispanic Professionals Organization, and UT-RGV, is designed to offer children sensory-rich experiences through play components, activity panels, a ramping system, and slides. The structure is meant to invite children of all abilities to be active, learn through play, create memories, and form friendships.

Once completed, the Orchid Avenue Beautification Project will include handicap-accessible outdoor seating and a butterfly garden as part of the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge.
