McAllen Public Library is fully open with enhanced convenience options including virtual programming and Drive-Through Pickup.

The Main Library and Lark and Palm View branches are open with normal service hours.

Masks are no longer required.

Drive-Through Pickup Service is available at Main Library Monday - Friday from 9:00AM - 5:00PM.  Patrons may pick up requested materials and receive their new or replacement library card at Main Library’s north side driveway. Patrons can also pick up MPL’s latest services: Book Bundles for children, Buzz Kits for teens, and Grab and Go crafts for adults. City of McAllen residents may pick up brown recycle bags with a McAllen water bill or an ID showing a McAllen address.

Library Café is open Monday - Thursday 9:00AM - 7:00PM and Friday - Saturday 9:00AM - 6:00PM. The café is closed on Sunday.

Study Rooms, Meeting Rooms, and the Quiet Reading Room are open.

Library Bookstore is open Monday, 1:00 - 5:00PM, Wednesday, 1:00 - 5:00PM, and Thursday - Saturday, 1:00 - 5:00PM. Donations are accepted Wednesdays 9:00AM - 8:00PM and Sundays 1:00 - 8:00PM.  Find more information here.
The library is offering in-person programs, many require pre-registration. Marketplace Insurance Assistance, Technology Tutoring and some services continue to be limited to one-on-one assistance, by appointment only.  The library continues to offer a wide variety of programs for all-ages virtually.  You can find all our virtual programs on our library's Facebook and YouTube pages! Learn how to use a new app, make a new craft, or listen to a story time with your children!

Online and Virtual Services are always open. You can enjoy thousands of e-books, audiobooks, magazines, online films, and more from the comfort of your home on our E-Branch.
