The South Texas International Book Festival (STIBF) is a free annual literary festival presented by McAllen Public Library that brings together readers, writers, educators, and storytellers for a celebration of books, ideas, and community.
2014 The Beginning McAllen Public Library launched the McAllen Book Festival (MBF) with a vision of creating greater access to authors and literary programming in South Texas.
2018 Rebranding In August 2018, we re-branded our annual book festival and announced a new name, a new logo, and a wider appeal. McAllen Book Festival became the South Texas Book Festival.
2020 STBF Expands South Texas Book Festival kicked off its seventh year with an exciting addition. For the first time, STBF went virtual and included literary sessions for adults.
2023 A Decade of STBF In 2023, McAllen Public Library announced the 10th Annual South Texas Book Festival, engaging readers of all ages in a diverse array of activities.
2026 STBF Goes International In 2026, we have gone international and are now the South Texas International Book Festival (STIBF)!
