  • What are the dates for the Festival?

South Texas Book Festival is a weeklong event held from October 20–31, 2025. View our lineup of events online at Schedules.

  • Where is the Festival being held?

South Texas Book Festival's Main Festival Day and the Trick-or-Treat Trail take place at Main Library (4001 N. 23rd St. in McAllen, TX). For individual events part of our "STBF Presents" lineup of events, visit our webpage at Schedules.

  • Is there a fee to attend?

South Texas Book Festival events are FREE and open to the public!

  • How can I participate as an author at the book festival?

Thank you for your interest in participating in the South Texas Book Festival (STBF)! Our Call for Authors opens every year in April. To apply, please visit our Call for Authors page and follow the instructions provided.

Please note that due to the high number of submissions we receive and limited space available, participation is not guaranteed. We look forward to reviewing your submissions and celebrating the diverse voices of authors at STBF!


  • How can I stay informed about the festival's latest updates?

  • Are there ADA Accommodations?

  • Where can I purchase books & merchandise by Festival authors?

Looking to snag a copy of your favorite author's book? The Storybook Garden, the Exclusive Bookseller for STBF, will be at the Book Sales & Book Signing area throughout the event. You'll be able to purchase your books and have them personalized by your favorite Festival author! Find details on our website at Book Sales.

  • What are the Parking Arrangements?

Free parking is available on the South Parking Lot of the Main Library (4001 N. 23rd St., McAllen), near Nolana Avenue and 23rd Street.

  • What kind of food will be available?

A delicious selection of food and beverages will be available from a lineup of on-site vendors throughout the South Texas Book Festival. Enjoy a tasty treat while you browse the market booths, listen to author talks, or visit our Family Fun Zone

  • Is there a Lost & Found?

We have a designated lost and found area where items found during the festival are kept. If you've lost something, please visit the blue Welcome Desk in the Library Lobby to inquire about your lost item.

  • Can we take photos?

Personal cameras and devices are permitted; we encourage you to take photos to commemorate your experience.

 
  • Can I Volunteer?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2025 South Texas Book Festival. At this time, we are not accepting volunteer applications.
