General Information


What is the South Texas International Book Festival?

The South Texas International Book Festival (STIBF) is a free annual literary festival presented by McAllen Public Library. Festival Day features author sessions, book signings, book sales, and special programming for readers of all ages. STIBF also includes lead-up events through STIBF Presents.

When is Festival Day?

Festival Day takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 11 AM to 5 PM at Main Library.

Where is STIBF held?

Festival Day is held at Main Library, located at 4001 N. 23rd St. in McAllen, TX 78504.

Some STIBF Presents events take place at MPL branches and community locations.

Is STIBF free?

Yes. Festival Day and most STIBF Presents events are free and open to the public.

Some special events may require registration or ticket purchase.

When will the author lineup be announced?

Featured authors are announced throughout the year leading up to Festival Day. Follow STIBF on social media or subscribe to MPL Connect for updates.

Can I meet the authors?

Yes. Many featured authors participate in book signings after their sessions. Signing availability varies by author.

Can I bring books from home for signing?

Yes, you are able to bring your books to be signed by the authors.

Where can I buy books?

Festival books are available through the official festival bookseller during Festival Day.
