The countdown to the 2025 South Texas Book Festival has begun! "STBF Presents" includes a lineup of special events happening in the weeks leading up to Festival Day on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

With special guests, community partners, and programs for all ages, these events offer a glance at the stories, creativity, and culture that make the festival so special. From author visits and storytimes to hands-on workshops and exclusive book clubs, each event brings us one step closer to Festival Day.

Pet Week at the Library
Get ready for Pet Week at the Library, a special event series presented by STBF! All McAllen Public Library branches will host a variety of engaging events throughout the week, including storytime, crafts, and activities, along with appearances from special guests and community partners. Don’t miss out on celebrating Pet Week with Marty the Library Cat!

Read Around Town Week
During Read Around Town Week, we’ll be featuring a series of events with local children’s authors in the days leading up to the Main Festival Day, spotlighting regional voices and celebrating the stories that shape our community. These special sessions will include storytimes, book talks, and opportunities for kids and their families to connect with authors from the Rio Grande Valley.

Un Cafecito with the Authors
South Texas Book Festival announces the 2025 Ticketed Session, Un Cafecito with the Authors. Enjoy an intimate evening with authors Diana Rojas, Francisco Cantú, and José Skinner as they discuss their works at the Library. Guests will receive signed books by the featured authors, freshly brewed coffee options from a full expresso bar, and delicious pastries in a relaxed setting.
