Gina Mendoza is the author of the heartfelt children’s book Mommies Get Scared Too. A bilingual speech therapist with 14 years of experience, Gina is a Rio Grande Valley native, originally from Pharr, TX, and now resides in San Antonio, TX. Inspired by her personal journey, Gina wrote this book to help children understand that even moms can feel fear and to provide a comforting tool for mothers to ease into difficult conversations with their kids. After being diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer, she faced an emotionally challenging journey. During her recovery, she realized the importance of openly addressing fears and emotions, leading her to pen this touching story. Through her writing, Gina aims to offer reassurance and support to families navigating similar challenges, highlighting that it’s okay to be scared and to seek comfort in each other.
