  • What are the dates for the Festival?

South Texas Book Festival is a weeklong event held from Tuesday, October 29th - Saturday, November 2nd, 2024. View our lineup of events online at STBF Schedule: At a Glance.

  • Where is the Festival being held?

South Texas Book Festival's Main Festival Day and the Trick-or-Treat Trail take place at Main Library (4001 N. 23rd St. in McAllen, TX). Stay tuned for details about the location for the 2024 Poetry Night.

  • Is there a fee to attend?

South Texas Book Festival is a FREE event open to the public!

  • How can I participate as an author at the book festival?

Thank you for your interest in participating in the South Texas Book Festival (STBF)! Our Call for Authors opens every year from April to July. To apply, please visit our Call for Authors page and follow the instructions provided.

Please note that due to the high number of submissions we receive and limited space available, participation is not guaranteed. We look forward to reviewing your submissions and celebrating the diverse voices of authors at STBF!

  • How can I stay informed about the festival's latest updates?

  • Where can I purchase books & merchandise by Festival authors?

Looking to snag a copy of your favorite author's book? The Storybook Garden, the Exclusive Bookseller for STBF, will be at the Book Sales & Book Signing area throughout the event. You'll be able to purchase your books and have them personalized by your favorite Festival author!

Wanting to purchase your books prior to the event? Find details about their bookshop online at http://www.thestorybookgarden.com/.

  • What are the Parking Arrangements?

Free parking is available on the North Parking Lot of the Main Library (4001 N. 23rd St., McAllen), near Orchid Park.

  • What kind of food will be available?

A delicious selection of food and beverages will be available from a lineup of on-site vendors throughout the South Texas Book Festival. Enjoy a tasty treat while you browse the market booths, listen to author talks, or visit our Family Fun Zone.

  • Is there a Lost & Found?

We have a designated lost and found area where items found during the festival are kept. If you've lost something, please visit the blue Welcome Desk in the Library Lobby to inquire about your lost item.

  • Can we take photos?

Personal cameras and devices are permitted; we encourage you to take photos to commemorate your experience.

 
  • Can I Volunteer?

South Texas Book Festival is looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand during the event. Find details online on our Volunteers page.
